Audley Avenue Business Parks, Newport, Shropshire

We were delighted to lead an ambitious project to transform a former Shropshire industrial site into a retail park with a supermarket, petrol station, restaurants and other stores.

The development of the multi-million pound scheme on a brownfield site at Audley Avenue in Newport aimed to add to the social and economic assets of the area, contributing to its overall growth.

The planning case was complex, with permission initially granted in 2014. This was then revised due to the development parameters being revisited and the present planning permission was granted in 2016.

The contract was awarded to one principal contractor and construction of the retail park started in June 2018. Work began on: a Lidl store; BP Petrol filling station with M&S store concession; a Poundstretcher (Bargain Buys Store); Subway; Greggs and McDonalds. The project also included the creation of a new access for vehicles onto the A41.

By January 2020 the work was completed, creating almost 100 new jobs across all the businesses at the site and an estimated £2.5 million boost to the local economy.
